Finally great mala at shu veg. They improved by leaps and bounds

They had green/ spinach maggi which tasted really qq! Just get less seasoning !

My brother has been ordering from this vegetarian place whenever im over for dinner.
We’ve been

wanting to try their Mala.
Spicy, tangy as what Mala should be. Also oily tho cos its d dried fried version.

Overall taste-i like it. Not tooooo overpoweringly spicy. But yes it’s a wee bit too oily for me.

Spice lovers rejoice! A great rendition of Mala in the the heartlands. Pairs well with

their sour plum drink. Sometimes the spicy paste is not mixed in well enough with the ingredients so I would recommend mixing the dish thoroughly when served. It also helps to spread the coriander and peanuts around. Kind of oily but thats mala for you! Love the vibe of Jalan Kayu so do check this outlet of Shu out.
When ordering, I avoid the mock mutton as that tends to contain egg. If you are unsure if any of the mock meats contain egg do check!

First time having mala dish here. I would think there were lesser selections (Wish there

were more types of beancurd skins) but enough variety for a good meal. There are lots of fresh vegetables to choose from. Must remember to request for less salt next time as it is too salty for me. The outlet now opens till 4 AM with limited dishes and mala is still available.

I've never seen lion's mane mushroom in mala before, and they offer that on a

flat charge! It's also really fresh unlike some that serve clearly frozen ones. What I also love about this was the YTF pieces! Bittergourd and eggplant sliced filled with mushroom mince. Medium heat is alright but this was on the oilier side. $2/100g, minimum $8. This was around $14 and I shared it with a friend.

Ordered Mala Xiang Guo and shared it with my brother. We both agree that the

one we had in Green on Earth tasted better. Even though this MLXG has the numbness from the peppercorn, it wasn't as aromatic and fragrant in terms of it's spices. Overall it was still pretty okay, especially being a vegan option for late night cravings/suppers!

I didn't realise the self pick counter serves both for mala and yong tau foo.

Make sense! I like how they allow 400g minimum, which is SGD8. This is not as oily and salty as some other places. Medium spicy is much spicier than other places, which is... not a bad thing. Haha. The black pepper flavour is much stronger too.

Really enjoyed this! Opted for the “little spicy” for spice level and it went great

with the creamy mushrooms and rice. Not too spicy but there’s still a kick to it! Would have preferred if there were more veges though

I quite enjoyed this mala dish, wasn’t too spicy and oily! And there’s a good

range of ingredients to select from. I do think i like greenonearth’s mala slightly better tho!
