My friend and I were going to see Tegan and Sara in Guelph together and

had decided to eat at The Cornerstone before the show. Sadly, they have REALLY LOUD live music on Sundays and it was too busy for us to get a table. We had to scramble to find another option nearby, and since Thai food is usually pretty easy for me to adjust to vegan, we went to this place, which is inside a little mall downtown.

We were 2 of 4 customers at the time, but my friend said it gets busy around local sports events. There are no options marked as vegan on the menu but they have fresh rolls and other curries that you can get "vegetarian" with tofu instead of animals. I should've gotten fresh rolls 😒 FYI I had originally asked for the pad thai with no egg and no fish sauce but the sauce is pre-made so they wouldn't make a vegan version. I got this curry because #potatoes but...

You can see in the photos that there are A LOT of crushed nuts on here, which I haven't experienced with other Thai curries before and I didn't like it. The menu had no peppers beside this dish to signify it being spicy, but there were definitely red pepper flakes throughout, I think coming from the crushed nuts. I can deal with spice, but someone else might order this and not be able to eat it. The curry itself had mild flavour that's typical of yellow curries. The vegetables inside were cut way too big and therefore were not cooked... like, barely even qualifying as lightly steamed. I literally couldn't stab the carrots with my fork or cut through with a knife. There were huge pieces of green pepper (also not cooked) that I cut into 6 smaller pieces so I could eat them. There were 1.5 potatoes which were also barely cooked, and not enough for a curry that listed potatoes as a main ingredient. There was lots of tofu, but it was the squishy fried soft tofu and the flavour from its juice when chewing it reminded me of how water smells in old plumbing. Just really not good.

To top it off, I think this was about $20 before tax and tip. Our server was friendly at least, but other than telling the kitchen to cook the veg better in the future, nothing was done to repair this meal. I honestly ate it (minus the carrots) only so I'd make it through the concert... which was luckily good enough to erase this awful meal from my brain.
