this was amazing!! being a seasonal special, as soon as i saw the philly cheesesteak i HAD to order it.
i was very impressed with this sandwich. it was complete with italian-style seitan, sautéed peppers and onions, cheese sauce (vegan of course!), all on a soft-but-not-soggy bun that held up but didn’t hurt my mouth at all. i find that some buns/breads have the tendency to scrape the roof of the mouth; however, i found no such issue with this bread. the seitan was perfectly seasoned, textured, and gave real flavor to the sandwich, helped by the additional onions and peppers. i found that the vegan cheese sauce was tasty, and didn’t stick to my mouth or become gummy as some vegan cheese has.
one note that could discourage someone from ordering the sandwich would be the messiness of it—this is not a “clean” sandwich. you will get cheese on your hands, plate, napkin, etc.. so be warned before ordering!
overall, this sandwich was packed with cheesesteak flavor and could certainly fool a meat-eater. i would definitely recommend it to those who were fans of classic cheesesteaks but are unwilling to harm any animals in the process 🫶
