I love how the waiter explained everything to me as if I needed selling on the merits of going vegan 😅 I played along. He ended up going into way too much detail on the supposed health benefits of this #morel #mushroom thing, which gives this dish all of its claim to fame, most of its price tag, and none of its flavour 😏 The flavour came from everything else - the #whitepepper in the broth, the #enoki and #shimeji mushroom, the #blackfungus, and the other random vegetables. A bit #toohealthy if you ask me, but nothing a double portion of soy sauce and cut chilli couldn't fix 😈
Served with a side of #whiterice. The waiter claimed that other customers have found the portion large enough to share among 2 people (with a double serving of rice), but I think that's just Penangites being customarily tight 😛 The waiter also claimed this was their answer to #bakkutteh, so go figure 😅
