Mee Pok

Mee pok ($6.50)! A local delight that some may have given up as a vegan. The texture of the noodles brings back good memories, and the fake "bak chor" (mock minced meat), 'fish' balls and fried beancurd skins were all great additions that added variety and flavor to the dish. But the noodles themselves were pretty tasteless, and even though it was listed as spicy, i couldnt really taste the spiciness. I went to request sambal from the counter (its free) and it made the noodles a lot more palatable! Easily finished it with the sambal. The noodles also came with a small bowl of soup, which was hot, sweet and full of carrots and corn. I really liked the vegetable soups here, flavorful with the sweetness of rich veggie broth ^^

I love the noodles! It is not easy to find mee pok made without eggs. The vegan fishball and crispy fried soy skin with vegan fish paste inside are all awesomely tasty!
