So Beertown has a "shrimp event" on now and this is a vegan take on a shrimp Po' Boy sandwich. It was really good (especially the crispy cornmeal battered pickles 🙀 and banana peppers 😋), but I really wish they had gone that extra step further and used actual plant-based shrimp... or perhaps palm hearts or king oyster mushrooms? They used Gardein (chicken?) strips, which are good, but didn't quite satisfy that shrimp craving. There also weren't a ton of pieces of the Gardein in there. Otherwise, it was a pretty decent effort. At $17.99 for the sandwich and a small side of fries, I'm not sure I would go back for another... but I am glad I tried it at least once! It's a shame because this has the potential to be incredible if only the shrimp substitute was more "shrimpy."
