I absolutely adore this dish 😋 …but I also absolutely adore everything else on the menu here, so really I don’t get this often enough 😌 Fried #meekolok! 🙌 I think I’ve finally picked up on the fact that their greens are on constant rotation based on availability 🥬 This serving was also extra special because they seem to have added imitation #lard bits 🐷 The crisp and #umami was on point! Find me an #omnivoreapproved alternative for this price, portion, and nutrition 😛

At my second vegan challenge dish already! Honestly, didn’t expect it to come so soon but ever so enthusiastic for the opportunity :) Just FYI my current challenge is to simply order a vegan dish if it’s available at my meal times. First off, this was a tough one. So here’s how it goes… I love fried kolok mee. Meaning to say my taste buds are likely to hold this particular dish in a lot more criticism. I’ll start off by saying it was certainly well cooked. Good amount of char on the noodles as well as the accompanied ingredients. And for a dish like this, I think they did a good job. However, personally as a picky eater (forgot to mention that too) I felt it lacked an umami flavour I miss in this specific dish. But I’d still recommend it. I also have no doubt that a couple pinches of an additional type of seasoning could really take this dish to the next level. P.S. I love cooking too. I take it those with the heart of a cook can empathise with my review a little more on those fastidious details.

My brother couldn’t even hold off from digging in before I got a shot of it 😂 I’m also reviewing this on his behalf #abillionhacks The fried (goreng) variety of #meekolok is actually quite rare in Kuching town, but a lot more common in #Dayak establishments especially in Serian, where our father’s from 😇 The dish is fried with bits of taugeh, beancurd, and some mustard greens and was apparently “not bad” 😅 Honey you finished that plate in 3 minutes you’re either a monster or it was good as hell 💅 #veganisnotscary #omnivoreapproved #thingsomnivoressay
