Hanwoo Village is a Korean BBQ restaurant located in Angel where everything is halal except for the pork. They have a few vegan starters however the rest of the menu is not vegan friendly unless you ask them to make adjustments. They have plenty of vegetarian options however in one dish, they included seafood so I wonder if they really know what vegetarian is and by extension, what vegan is.
This restaurant is very overpriced and the portions are small. In that sense, I believe they’re trying to market themselves as high end, fine-dining Korean food however as someone who has had a lot of Korean food, the style of it is usually very casual. The positives of this place is that the food is delicious so I do believe that the chefs know what they’re doing. However, I could also go to a family run place and get the same deliciousness for much cheaper.
Jeon is a Korean pancake and this one is a mix of kimchee and veggies. It was very good, the kimchee wasn’t overly sour, the pancake had good balance of crunch and softness. The sauce that’s paired with it is standard but the perfect complimentary.
Having said that, I will still comment about the portion size because I know other places that give more than this. Like this dish was £10.50. I don’t think a starter like this should ever go over the £10 mark.
