Just as I had gotten around to approaching Green Common in my backlog, they close down š Iāll never forget the first bite I had from them š„² Even with the delivery time, everything was still in peak condition and #ecopackaging This was among @dafnelatelyās most frequent orders that I absolutely had to try š and it made sense š The #veganfish at work here is, in fact, OmniFoods ! It was all just #deepfried to golden perfection š„¹ The insides were just so believable theyād surely fool the omniā oh my gosh I get the name now! 𤣠It wasnāt very salty like most #fishandchips Iāve encountered but i like less salt anyway. The #fries were a little more dry in mouthfeel to my liking but I think it was probably just the type of potato. The texture was still 10/10 though š I donāt even like #tartarsauce but this one worked for me š® especially with the other green sauce I wasnāt sure of but maybe some kind of guac? $16 is not the worst for #fish and #chips especially considering the quality! This is the first time Iām experiencing the loss of a beloved dining option š„ŗ #saveveganrestaurants
The fish was nice and crisp - and tasted like fish. Chips were alright. The sauce was good but didnāt like the pea spread that came with it. Overall, I would have preferred a wholefood option like tofu or banana blossom! Felt too processed.
Green Common has a lot of wonderful dishes to offer, so I personally wouldn't recommend this dish. The Omni fish fillet doesn't have enough flavour to make up for the simple list of ingredients, and the dish is lacking salt. Fries and tartar sauce were amazing though, and the crunchy batter on the fish was *chef's kiss*.
This is my go-to dish either for recommending someone a dish from Green Common or if I need something super-filling. To my omnivore friends, their opinions have been receptive and accepting of Omnimeats after trying this fried āfishā fillets, and they usually find the serving size to be very generous and worth. Crispy battered exterior, juicy and soft meaty texture within. There are 3 huge sizes of these fried fillets, and I tend to feel as though I had a bit too much of the same thing after the second fillet. Nonetheless, its always a good recommendation if you hadnāt tried it before, and does show how far and well alternative proteins/meats have come. Also, the fries!!! Thick and potatoey and yums :)
No complains because they actually made vegan fish and chips thatās close to the real stuff?!?!?!?! Iāve tried many vegan fish and chips, NONE of them is as close as the authentic British style fish & chips. The presence of mushy peas, yassss šÆ
