I am a MASSIVE fan of Fons empanadas. Anytime I can get them at a
festival, I will. Traveling through #Chicago over the weekend, I just had to stop. I got four different flavors and even bought the reusable box for $2. Anytime you bring it to a location to fill, you get a free empanada!
These Asian Lumpia empanadas were so unique! It was filled with Asian style smoked cabbage and carrots, stuffed inside an empanada dough made from spinach with a hint of paprika. All of their dough colors come from plants, and they use all natural ingredients, as well. This had such a bold flavor. It had a #kimchi like flavor but also had this rich smokey flavor. I'm so glad I got two. One Fon or empanada is $4 each, which I believe to be a decent price as everything is homemade and they use all natural and healthy ingredients. They're a decent size as well, and not to mention beautiful! They have three locations in Chicago and one in New York, and you can also find them at Vegandale!
