This was my first time trying dessert empanadas (the blue ones), and just like everything
else from Fons, they were INCREDIBLE. They are absolutely beautiful, too. Fons uses all natural ingredients and #organic ingredients, so the beautiful blue color comes from Butterfly Pea Flower. This empanada is their take on a healthier Apple Pie. The inside is filled with cooked cinnamon apples and brown sugar. It was so warm and gave me fall fibes. Because this is a dessert empanada, it's not as healthy as the others, but they still use quality ingredients.
The pricing is the same as the others $4.25 and if you purchase the $2 reusable box, you get a free empanada! A great value. These also make such fun gifts as well. You can have them sent and delivered over the United States. They have two options when you purchase them in store, bake there or bake at home. If you get several, I would definitely recommend the baking at home option because the empanada dough can get stale fast as it has no preservatives. Everyone who works there has always been so nice as well, and they have great customer service.
