$3.50 for 5 tutu kuehs - a choice of Peanut / Coconut. The aunty allows

you a mix in a box!
This was one of the options from their lineup of traditional Pasar Malam-like snacks at the food court!

Literally my very first time eating a tutu kueh and I’m surprised by the texture - the white skin is kinda like a Bao but not so fluffy. Instead, it’s a denser more compact thinner layer of pastry skin with a more intricate design pattern on top.
The peanut filling had crunchy bits and sweet but choosing this filling might not be the best option bc overall it could get a bit dry!

It is freshly made/steamed so you get to watch it being made! Quite fascinating to see the fine ground powder/flour packed tgt and being turned into a homogenous pastry-like skin so quickly by steaming!
I kinda understand why freshly made because the kueh texture can get dry/stiff quite quick?
Ofc that only happened toward the last pieces for me bc I dined-in. Which does make me wonder if people who takeaway the tutu kuehs re-steam their ones at home 🤔
But otherwise it was hot holding it with fingers to eat haha, but also pretty soft and yummy☺️
