Well the photo doesn’t do justice here, sorry. This is a deep fried massive puri basically. Served with a mild spicy chickpea curry. The whole time I was wondering how does people finish this thing fully. It’s too big and filling a bit hard to finish off unless you’re very hungry. $7.70 without GST btw.
Looks astonishing so decided to order one to try. Basically it's inflated and deep fried, and tastes very similar to fried bread sticks (youtiaos)😄 The dough is flavorful, with a thin crispy texture on the outside, and soft on the inside. Came with chana masala aka chickpeas curry for dip, and also a lime for added freshness to balance the dish.
this is one of my FAVOURITE dishes of all time but it makes me feel really guilty afterwards cos it’s not the healthiest 🙂 but the chole (chickpeas) are cooked really nicely and super flavourful! love the slice of onion and chilli served at the side for anyone looking for some extra ✨spice✨ and the bhatura itself is crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. (also a lil mad that the bhatura deflated completely before I managed to take a picture)
Not kidding when i say this is my favourite meal ever! The deep fried bhatura makes the dough so flavourful, albeit a little oily so its pretty indulgent. The chana masala is perfect! The chickpeas are well cooked and so flavourful, which pair perfectly with the bread. Squeeze some of the lime its served with to cut through some of the richness and elevate the dish even further. Please go try!!! Not to mention this is super affordable and authentic. Located in Little India, you can fill up on this (and a cup of masala chai) for under $10. Note that this dish is only served after 11am in their restaurants!
The bhatura was humongous!! They give loads of chana and I enjoyed the fresh lime and plump white onion they gave to accompany the chana bhatura.
