This small, quaint shop is nestled on a main street in Rutherford, NJ. They have been selling vegan and vegan-gluten free pastries there for 15 years. The displays are neat and professional looking-you could easily feel that you were in a high end bakery, and I found the service there to be friendly and personable.
One of my favorite donuts growing up was always the Boston Cream Donut, so I was excited to find that they made a version of this on their menu. I found this donut to be heavenly. It was moderately moist with only a barely noticed dryness, and the custard-like cream and chocolate frosting added more yummy creamy moistness to this donut without being too heavy or overpowering.
This donut is shaped like a toroid, and the chocolate and cream are funneled down the center hole. Not to fear, as what is on top certainly makes up for it. The hard colored sprinkles are an added fun element. You wouldn’t know it was gluten free, it was so good.
One donut is priced at $4.50. Between the love that goes into making it, as well as the quality and flavor of this donut, it seems to be a fair price. Although, I wish it’d be cheaper so I could enjoy my favorite more frequently.
