Beyond Simply Grill'd

Good to see mainstream places embrace plant based products, however was a bit frustrating that their plant based section on menu isn't plant based, but is vegetarian instead and have to request the vegan option. A bit oily and lacks flavour, but very filling and beyond meat taste very similar to meat. #alv #veganuary

The new 'Beyond' range at Grill'd features patties by 'beyond burgers' who make pretty decent meat substitutes. I was happy with the texture but a little less happy with the taste. However, when combined with everything else in the burger it was delicious! The most annoying thing however is that none of the beyond range at Grill'd is 100% vegan. Even this burger comes with a herbed Mayo BUT you can easily swap this out for their vegan Mayo and you can choose vegan or normal cheese. (the vegan cheese was pretty bland) Another menu item was the 'Beyond Crispy Bacon and Cheese' , which astonishingly actually included REAL bacon and cheese. For people who just want to cut out beef, I understand. But the majority of customers for this range will no doubt want vegan bacon at the minimum, and will usually want a vegan cheese. I look forward to a day where Grill'd can offer a 100% vegan bacon and cheese burger, and then I will return!
