This really shouldn’t be called spanakopita, as this is a very far cry from the Greek pie of phyllo pastry stuffed full of gooey feta and spinach. This thing was about 50% pastry (it seemed more like puff pastry than phyllo), 40% air, and only 10% filling. This seems to be a common trend among this café’s savoury pastries- a very scant and skimpy tablespoon of actual filling lost amongst a heap of dry pastry flakes 😩 The stinginess of the vegan feta and spinach filling in this pastry maddened me more after I paid an exorbitant $7.50 for it. They know how to do their sweet stuff here, but the savoury has lost my patronage.
