This Labour Day long weekend, I decided to go to the beach in Port Stanley, Ontario (just south of London, Ontario). I was surprised to see that one of the restaurants on the beach had an extensive plant-based menu. So, I had to eat there!
For my appetizer, I ordered Plant-Based Thai Chicken Bites. I’m pretty sure the chicken bites were a Beyond Meat product. Regardless, they were covered in a Thai sauce, sesame seeds, sweet soy and green onions, and atop some nacho chips. The presentation was nice, but the chicken bites were tough. I assume it was because of the way they were cooked because I’ve had Beyond Meat chicken (purchased at the grocery store and cooked at home) and it was tough. Hence the average rating for taste, although the bites still tasted very good.
I would definitely return to this restaurant and I would still order this appetizer again. Service was very good, and I was very impressed that someone put some serious thought into assembling a very extensive plant-based / vegan menu. And this restaurant is in a small town!! It’s a shame that other restaurants in larger communities don’t put in half the effort to appease vegetarians and vegans.
