I ventured out to Third Space Cafe this morning, just down the road from Hi Flora in hopes to get a breakfast sandwich. I was heartbroken to see that they no longer serve hot food! I decided to wait a few hours for Hi Flora to open to try this newer biscuits and gravy dish.

Biscuits and gravy is one of my favorite brunch dishes! Reverie and Hard Times Cafe both have great versions that I've had many times. It was exciting to see another restaurant in the city add this classic dish to the menu! Hi Flora's is definitely the most unique. They add wild rice to their mushroom gravy! I've never seen that before. I really enjoyed it. It made it feel very Minnesotan and was perfect on a cool late summer morning. It's like the breakfast version of wild rice soup! Another unique thing about this dish is the biscuits! I think they're fried! They had a wonderfully decadent crispy crust that you can really only get frying. It was like a savory donut! The inside was so incredibly fluffy! This was a really nice rendition of a classic, although a bit heavier than other restaurants'.
