BuitoniSfoglia Bontà di Semipattini的评论 (2024年5月15日)

I was curious to try this puff pastry after seeing @cucinabotanica using it in one of her recipes. I actually did her recipe with this one (it’s the leek and hummus pie you see in the later pics).

This dough was not available in Switzerland where I live, so I bought it Italy when I was visiting last weekend. Like most Buitoni products is widely available at most Italian supermarkets. I’m not really a fan of this brand because it’s owned by Nestle (possibly the most evil food company in the world), but I wanted to give it a try because it looked so nice with the seeds and I was expecting a better flavor than normal puff pastry. It costed 2,50€ which is definitely above average (I pay less here in Switzerland for the same amount of product).

So let’s focus on the taste of the product: it wasn’t as good as I expected. It wasn’t foul, but just not as good as regular pastry puff. It seemed as it lacked the “buttery” taste. Also the consistency was different. The dough seemed more prone to crumbling, even when I was unrolling it, which is something that never happens with the other pastry puff I use. Also after being baked the consistency was more stiff than usual.

The final result was very good-looking, but I don’t think it’s worth to buy this product just for this.

Also in terms of nutrition I was expecting this product to be more “healthy”, but it has just the same amount of calories as a regular puff pastry and just as many fats. The only slightly better thing is that compared to the one I get from Migros this one has a little more fiber and protein, but again, this doesn’t make it a healthier product.
