Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with this one. The pastry tasted weirdly salty (in like a chemical way) and half-way through eating it I noticed what looked to be small chunks of chicken in it. I alerted two different staff to this asking what the filling for the vegan empanada was supposed to be, thinking they may have given me the wrong one by mistake or worse yet made them with the wrong filling by mistake and they just brushed me off. I asked if they knew what the ingredients were and they said they suppose it’s just vegetables or something and left me wondering. It took a third person, lots of explaining, and 15 minutes of waiting for them to text someone, and have that someone text them back a blurry picture of a box’s ingredients list for them to show me what I just ate. Correct me if I’m wrong but, after working in hospitality myself, it’s the law to have copies of all product ingredients and allergens and to have them on hand in the place of sale, right? Why did this have to be so damn difficult? Is it so hard to even just write a more descriptive label for the thing like ‘vegan chicken and vegetable’ so we know a bit more of what to expect when we bite into it? Now I can’t go back because I annoyed them and made a classic pedantic-vegan impression of myself just to rest assured I didn’t just ingest some poor chicken’s flesh :(
