Tried something different today. The orange thing is supposed to be some kind of bean and cooked to be chewy and spicy. It felt a bit tough and wasn't really to my liking though. I generally avoid mock meat because eggs or dairy may be in them, but I tried the mock meat cooked with mushrooms (the brown stuff) after asking the stall owner whether their mock meat contained eggs or dairy. The mushrooms were nice, but the mock meat's texture was more like fish cake than meat. Anyway, I was told their mock meat do not contain eggs or milk either. But I wasn't able to communicate "dairy derivatives" in Chinese and wasn't sure if she would understand. The stall is fully egg-free and only their curry has a bit of milk, so I would believe that their mock meat would never contain eggs but vegans might have to consider if they would like to take the risk as their mock meats might still contain dairy alternatives. Lastly, I discovered that they provide a corn and vegetable soup for free if you ask. It wasn't oily at all and tastes really good. You can save yourself from buying a drink to go with your meal.

Update: this vegetarian stall has moved back to the Techno Edge canteen at the faculty of engineering.
