The Red Fern in Rochester NY will be a must anytime I’m in the area.
I ordered the ABLT. It’s Tempeh Bacon, avocado spread, roasted tomato, balsamic field greens, lemon mayo on toasted sourdough bread. I was actually surprised by the tempeh bacon. I wasn’t expecting much from Tempeh. But was pleasantly surprised by the smoky maple flavor and slight crisp of it. The lemon mayo did not overpower the sandwich at all. Much like a traditional blt, the tempeh made this sandwich.
The mac salad was a great pairing for this sandwich. The mac salad is gluten free. I don’t know what brand pasta they use, but the pasta was not chewy, nor did it fall apart. The vinegar dressing was not overpowering. The garlic and onion seasoning was very settle with the taste of Dill.
I would try anything from here.
The restaurant itself is small, vegan hot spot. It has a 4 seat bar, and about 10 two seat tables. They made accommodations for our party of 4. The staff was knowledgable of all menu items and friendly. All tables were full and many people coming in to pick up orders.
This is a must if you are in the area!
