I was so excited when I saw Mockingbird was serving a few different kinds of pide. I thought I’d start with the most plain and order the other kinds another time. Well, what arrived was definitely not what I expected, there’s a place for crispyness in garlic bread type things but this was a level above crispy, the entire thing was just hard and almost paper flat. It’s been a long time since I had a proper pide, sure, but I can tell you the whole thing isn’t usually so flat or had. I really hope their other kinds, which have more toppings have a better taste and texture 😢

The banh mi is probably my favourite thing on Mockingbird’s new menu. I get them to not include the cucumber cos I hate it but everything you’re left with is great. I really enjoy their brisket style meat and with the coriander, chilli, nuoc cham dressing and chilli lime Mayo, it’s a great combo

This onion burger was a unique experience. It's nice to see something out of the ordinary pulled off quite well. The house made beef patty wasn't bad. Juicy but not too Juicy, a good amount of flavour and unique. Would recommend.

The texture of the seitan is better than most fried seitan offerings, the flavour is a little lacking. This burger would score higher if it only just had a little more flavour to it. More curry leaves, and the addition of sauteed onion and garlic would be a good start

Would definitely get this again! A wonderful idea and pretty well executed. The flavour being the main selling point. It's great to see places get creative with how they do their loaded fries. The price point could be lowered a bit though!

The crumbing on this was pretty good, could have been more moist, but probably the best I've seen. The texture of the seitan inside was only okay. And the flavour? Average. Worth trying. The sauce is the same as the one they use in the pies, the Vegemite one. The crust is the hardest thing to do and they've done a pretty good job at that, would love to them improve the other two aspects

This was a pretty tasty "healthier" option. Everything in here works well together. I really appreciated the semi sun-dried tomatoes and grilled eggplant, my only complaints would be that the olives aren't pitted and there probably should be more couscous tabouleh

Rings of Seitan - Mockingbird’s 2021 Welly On a Plate Burger. Cornflake crusted seitan 'chicken' with herb citrus salad, red cabbage slaw, 'cheese' disc, cos, spicy mayonnaise and spicy mango chutney in a purple Zaida's bun, with curly fries and popping candy. $24 NZD I had high hopes for this burger - it looked and sounded really impressive… I was quite apprehensive about the popping candy but didn’t even notice it. The Seitan patty was delicious, as were the curly fries, but the cheese disk was quite tough and chewy and ended up taking over. Overall this burger was tasty and a generous portion, but could have been better executed. Regardless, I’ll keep going back to Mockingbird for their friendly service and generally delicious and creative vegan food 🍔🍟 #burger #veganburger #wellingtonvegan #curlyfries
