🌱 🍛 Sorry this picture isn’t great, everything was so tasty here that I started eating this before remembering to take a pic 🌝 This was also delicious, but not as stand-out as the starters (Tohu Kyaw & Golden Mandalay). I’d still have this if I returned, but I’ve just down rated it slightly as the other dishes were better. Cost: $34 Total dinner cost for the 2 x starters and 2 x mains: $188

🌱 🤩 WOW! These were delicious, cooked perfectly with a crunch in the outside and soft in the middle, we were very impressed and would order these again if we came back. Cost of dish: $18

🌱 Again I chose this restaurant based on @vikas review and the @abillion deal, however again on arrival the restaurant said they no longer do the deal. I’m finding this to be a reoccurring thing whilst in Singapore, so either @abillion or the restaurants need to update their listings. 🌝 That aside, this tofu dish was one of the best I’ve ever had, absolutely delicious, full of flavour and the perfect amount of heat. We’ll probably be going back! Vegan items are clearly listed on the menu. The service was excellent here. This cost $22, the whole meal cost $188

It’s comforting that the dish I found least enjoyable in this #secretvegantakeover was still stunning 🤩 They set such a high bar for themselves! The #coconutjelly perhaps isn’t for everyone but having grown up with #natadecoco being the treat-i-est of all desserts, perhaps second to #custard on good grades or behaviour 🥥 it’s oddly comforting for me ☺️ The base is a tangy #palmsugar syrup that noticeably, just like the #jelly, not everyone enjoyed. The fruits were a nice touch but I don’t think I’d finish a meal quite this heavy with something as decadent in the future. It’s an afternoon tea or breakfast meal at most 😇 Et voila! The entire #vegandiningclub event course ✌️ See yous at the next one!

Surprisingly? This was not as sweet as I imagined 🥥 Sure, it’s still a rich & creamy #santan / #coconutmilk base but more subtle and thankfully, not as complex — Especially 5 courses in of the #secretvegantakeover! It’s still heavy and I left with my belt a size bigger than I remember 🤰 but it was just so good 😋 In spite of it being so comfortably warm however the broccoli 🥦 and cabbage 🥬 remained just perfectly cooked and crunchy and the #noodles bit like nothing more than a blanch 🍜 I’d skip the course any other day for their array of appetisers but I can’t not recommend this to a #coconutlover like myself. It’s just so good 😇

I hadn’t even touched this and I knew it was going to be good 😮 Sure, it looks good 📸 but having @paloma throw the whole thing into her mouth and just moments later fan herself frantically, pupils dilated, and before even swallowing, uttering “GUYS YOU MUST TRY THIS” pretty much sold it to me 😆 I did the same and was overcome with the same reaction and pretty soon the whole table followed suit! 🤣 I usually do a cross-section of #dimsum or #dumplings because my simpleton tastebuds can’t take surprises 🤫 This was worth it! It features asparagus, corn 🌽, and spring onion 🧅 per the menu. Not written on the menu, is the inclusion of #secretvegantakeover magic 🪄 I don’t think this is on their regular menu rotation, but it really should be 💆‍♀️

I’ve always wondered what a Phil Collin’s song would taste like 💭 Not that this tastes like one, though for a moment I was taken to a place of sererenity in which I no longer needed to wonder 🧘‍♀️ I’m serious, no #tohu has any business being this amazing 🤯 The yellow centre is per it being made from yellow #splitpea 🫘 so while it does look like #tofu and is often used in the same context, it does taste quite different. Kind of like cubed #dhal? 😅 I’m a huge fan of the #batter and sauce pairing they used — it reminds me of “telur balado” or “telur rebus goreng tepung” you get at at a #mamak 🐣 Literally deep-fried boiled eggs 😅 I’m reminded to try that with Yo Egg now ☺️ Back to this dish ☝️ It was served with a side of nuts 🥜 and deep-fried fluffy vermicelli 🍜 I know there’s a proper noun for it but my brain is just malfunctioning cells and search engines are basically useless thanks to SEO and the attention economy 🙃 You see? This #mocktail has attitude 😵 I don’t think I’ve ever tasted a better demonstration of the words tangy or astringent until just now 🍹 No surprise though considering it’s centered around #kokum 🥭 Think #mangosteen but possessed by an angry in-law from an Indonesian telenovela / sinetron 📺 That’s what this tastes like 🥴 Oh, and as if that wasn’t enough of an assault on my stomach lining they also pair it with #jaggery and #titora… wait… juice?! 💀 You know that sour Nepalese #plum snack?! …but juice?? Girl, and I thought society had peaked at #sourplum chewing gum 🤒 I ordered some rum on the side to wash this down. This was an entire experience and I’m HERE for it.

The second installation in yesterday’s #secretvegantakeover was this #hincho / #soup 🍲 The base of the soup is a creamy yellow #chickpea stew 🥘 and then paired with what their menu dubs a “symphony of Burmese botanicals” 🌻 Basically, some very sour spices 🤭 I can’t tell you how upsetting it is that the best #vegansoup I’ve had in years came in such small a portion 😠 I demand more! It was creamy and yet thin and yet sour and yet #savoury and before I knew it, I was scraping at the bowl wishing I were a tinier human so the soup would have felt like more 😭 It was so good! Wait! I haven’t even got to the #tohu! Did you know that in #burma they make #tofu out of yellow #splitpea instead of #soybeans? 💡 It’s more mushy, more flavourful and definitely a better pairing than your regular #taukwa for sure 😋 I’m obsessed! I don’t know if this is a regular rotation item or a #vegandiningclub special but I’m coming back for it 🤤 …and getting it by the gallon! 🍻

This #salad is perfection 🤩 That’s right! You can get a vegan #lahpetthoke in Singapore right here at Burma Social ✌️ This #amusebouche is courtesy of none other than this month’s #secretvegantakeover — hosted yesterday, the 10th of November 🗓️ #bringbackdates This will be unlike other #salad you may be used to. It’s not cold, nor sour, nor sweet 🍬, or even covered in an insurance premium of #mayo but #savoury and centred around #fermented tea leaves 🍵 Yes, that means this does contain #caffeine! They never specify the centrepiece other than #tea but from what I could work out, it was cabbage 🥬 It had a #nutty, tangy flavour too per what felt like #sesameseeds and peanuts 🥜 This all was completed with the sour of some fresh #tomato and a squeeze of #lime 🍋‍🟩 There was a piece of green #chilli but you could have easily set it aside. This was not at all #spicy 😉 I can’t sell this dish enough. @m1tch9i swears it’s the best salad she’s ever had. I’ve been feeding her subpar salads for years! Do yourself a favour and head on here & don’t miss out on future #vegandiningclub events 😋

Absolutely loved the Avocado Tacos with Corn & Tea Leaf Kimchi! The combination of avocado and tangy tea leaf kimchi created a delightful burst of flavors. This dish is a standout and a must-try!
