Honestly I was expecting to hate these. I liked #bacon before I became vegan, but
these looked pretty realistic yet very weird at the same time when I saw them raw in the packaging.
But I really enjoyed them, the taste is simple and I don’t notice any herbs or spices. Just a mild savoury taste and good amount of smokey flavour from being #smoked over beechwood.
I fried them in a pan with some oil and I was able to to get them to have that dry crispiness with a subtle chewy texture, which is how I used to like my bacon. The texture was a lot more realistic than I expected and I found it very pleasant to eat! They don’t feel as fatty and greasy as real bacon, even when fried in a good amount of #oil but otherwise I’d say the texture is similar.
The packaging says it’s been made with a minimum of 60% #recycled plastic. I cannot find anything about the packaging actually being recyclable however.
💵~28 NOK at Kiwi. Each pack contains 6 slices. The product is #palmoilfree and is based on #peaprotein and #potato protein, as well as pea strach, #sunflower oil and various thickening agents.
I will 100% purchase these again. I used them to fill a #wrap but I’d really like to try them with some creamy pasta another time😋
