It actually tastes great without the additional flavour sauce. Not too smelly. Also comes with a pack of 4 so more affordable. I stirred it 150 times this time (before adding the mustard) and so perhaps that’s all you need to do to get the umami taste. I added the packet mustard but didn’t have to add more mustard. Apparently there’s a saying in Japanese like “natto everyday keeps the doctor away”, so I’m having it for breakfast. Only downside is all these packages use styrofoam! It’s high in a rare kind of potassium apparently usually only in animal products because it is fermented with a bacteria. Also iron and other minerals

Of all these years I've been eating Natto, this is the only brand I've ever found that is vegan. The other ones have a packet of sauce which has fish in it, so I avoid buying them because even though it's possible to throw out the packet, I'd rather not support the cruel fish industry with my funds. So this is a great brand to get. The only packet it comes with is of mustard. Natto is fermented soybeans and is an acquired taste. If you can get past the slime, smell and actually come to enjoy the taste, you're in store for a super healthy food. It's loaded with vitamin K, calcium (great for bones) and probiotics (for digestive health), just to name a few. The first time I tried this, I thought it was terrible, but I had bought a 3-pack. I couldn't come to terms to throw out something so healthy, so I made myself eat it all in small increments and doctoring it with seasonings. By the time I made it to the 3rd pack, I actually got to liking it and have been buying it ever since. I just mix in the mustard, a little soy sauce, sesame oil and stir it into rice and veggies. #aloha
