Kulolo is a Hawaiian dish that is popular at luaus. It’s made with taro, coconut milk, and sugar. This was both me and my mum‘s first time trying this. Her partner at a sanctuary that she volunteers at gave this to her. She brought it with her to a beach and was going to share it with a friend, but her friend thought it was too weird-looking to try (my crazy mum will try anything as long as it’s vegan, lol). So she had leftovers to bring home. I’m pretty finicky myself, but I don’t care how food looks. I will only try it out if it smells good. This didn’t actually have much smell to it, so just to please my mum, I gave it a try anyway. It actually wasn’t bad. I ate all the little pieces she gave me, but then she stopped because she doesn’t want me eating much sugar. It was dense and chewy. My mum didn’t like it all that much, but good enough to finish it off. She did read up on it though and found that some people like to fry it in butter. So that is what she did with the small piece that she had left (plant-based butter, of course), last photo. She liked it more that way too. #hawaii #coconut #snack #pudding #onthego #reviewwithaview #abillionlove
