Looking at it, I would never have guessed this to be #chickenrice 😮 Tasting it, though? I absolutely would 🤩 This humble little stall housed in an equally humble #kopitiam presents this fascinating rendition that separates the protein textures! I’d like to start with the also surprisingly savoury and lightly gingery #rice 😛 It didn’t give off as strong of an aroma as it actually tasted 😙 It was mostly soft but slightly stiff enough to signify the minimal amount of fat you’d want for such a dish 😉 The #mockchicken tasted like #chicken just dripping in juices of that allium-heavy flavours 😋 It was quite the rival to steamed chicken rice replicas. Then, the addition of fried #beancurdskin took me to a place of roasted #hainanesechickenrice 🤪 I never thought I’d get the best of both chicken rice worlds in a #vegan variant for just RM6.50!! 😍 #worthit T’was even #omnivoreapproved by @dafnelately’s brother so… 😏 yeah… #veganisnotscary
Alas, their salad chicken rice contains egg so if you’re looking for a #veganchicken treat this seems to be your only option!
