Can you find me a more beautiful dish? 🤩 10s across the board for presentation 👏 Next thing they need to work on is their integrity 🙄 I’ll start with the positives first — That savoy cabbage wrap is nothing short of genius! A stuffed cabbage is amazing but a cabbage taco is just phenomenal 🥬 Good choice too on the firmer savoy cabbage! The #pilaf was also just great 🙌 So amazingly spiced 🌶️ I thought it was bulgur at first given the nutty aftertaste, only realising it was #freekah / #farik after looking back at the menu! It slips my mind what they baptised it with, utterly incredible 🤤 The greasy side of vegetables and #porcini mushroom was gorgeous too 🍄 Literally every bite melted in the mouth! All of this making a shame for what would be such a huge flop on their part 👇 I am certain that they fed us #dairy 🥛 The “casserole” of vegetables that came on the side almost certainly had some type of #yoghurt or cheese in there. I swear #tzatziki, but @stevenneoh possibly #feta 🧀 We called on two waiters though, both of which swear we were served a dish with a plant-based cream. Something later that night upset my gut & I’m pretty sure it was my lactose intolerance screaming 🙀 Don’t tell me this is once again a case of there being a vegetable cow in the mix 😑 I’d be extra careful here. Once I caught a whiff of what tasted too uncanny to be #vegancheese I laid off to not completely wreck myself. S$67 for this serving. I hope they’re sincere 🤞
Various things were wrong here 🤢 Firstly, what exactly are they calling a #casserole? 🤨 The baked vegetables in the tin pot? But clearly the standout items here are the savoy #cabbage leaf dressed up like a taco shell, and the whatever-it-was salad just to the side of it 🤨 Next, none of the three components above felt like it was designed to go with the other two, which was weird 😬 Worst of all, both @dafnelately and I had our dairy radars go off from the cream-like substance in the casserole, despite the vehement and repeated protestations of the wait staff that our dish was vegan 😵💫
What in the world is this you ask? I thought the same thing when it came out. Simply put, it’s grilled cabbage folded over and stuffed with lentils. But it’s so much more than that, and it might be the best thing I’ve eaten in a very long time! From the menu this dish literally has everything you could ask for: freekeh, black lentils, porcini mushrooms, grilled Savoy cabbage, roasted fennel, celeriac, roasted garlic, charred onions, green vegetables, smoked eggplant cream, tahini and a watercress coulis. I’m lost when it comes to if Savoy cabbage is from a place called Savoy and I really should know what a coulis is by now but I don’t 😂 but the way everything just came together in this sharing dish was incredible. Every morsel was incredible and the sauces that came with the dish were delicious. I’d highly recommend checking out Aniba’s vegan menu! For 🇸🇬 $68 this dish was pricey but all of their entrees are sharing portions enough for 2-3 people. I’d definitely go back for this. It also came with a huge pot of roasted mushrooms which were amazing! #aniba #bestof #singapore #veganinsingapore
