Toon Rendang Rice

A huge fan of the Toon Rendang Rice here! Lovely lemongrass flavour and the ‘meat’ chunks are really flavourful too!

Enjoyed my first time experiencing this dish, I had it the second day by reheating at the micro. Rice and meat has merged, not a fuzz though. I can say this is a nice dish to have as an alternative main dish other than their series of Burgers at this nomVnom Xpress stop.

Sorry for the low quality pic - this was a delivery and I didn’t take the time to plate it before taking a picture. The food quality is exponentially better than this picture can do justice to. I have never tasted non-vegan rendang so I don’t have that benchmark with which to compare this, but I really enjoyed this. It’s definitely spicy to me (though reviews on this dish at other nomvnom outlets seem to suggest it isn’t spicy enough, so your mileage may vary.) the texture of the faux meat (jackfruit i believe?) is pleasantly chewy and doesn’t have a jackfruit taste. It’s priced at the same level as their burgers, so price isn’t much of a factor if you’re deciding between their wide array of burgers and this solitary rice dish on their menu. I enjoyed trying this though am more likely to get their burgers next time because there’s a more unique taste experience there. But this is absolutely a worthwhile dish to try.
