A #Spandauer filled with #vanillacustard is an exquisite #pastry 🥐 that combines flaky texture with creamy indulgence. The pastry is crafted from a laminated #dough, creating layers that are light, buttery, and crispy. Shaped into a square-round form, the center is filled with a generous dollop of smooth, rich #vanilla #custard! #sweettooth #droolworthy As it bakes, the #dough becomes golden brown and beautifully crisp, while the custard 🍮 #filling remains creamy and luscious. The finished pastry is drizzled with a light icing or dusted with #powderedsugar, adding a touch of sweetness that complements the custard. Fun fact: The name "Spandauer" for this type of pastry is thought to originate from the Spandau district in #Berlin, #Germany. While the pastry itself is widely recognized as a Danish creation, it appears that the name "Spandauer" was adopted in some parts of Germany to describe this particular style of pastry. This naming could be a result of regional variations in terminology or the influence of historical trade and cultural exchanges between Denmark and Germany. The Spandauer pastry, with its flaky dough and delicious fillings, thus carries a name that reflects a blend of culinary traditions.
The dough is very good made, but the cream it doesn't taste of anything. I would definitely add some more flavor.
It looked similar to pastel de nata, but it’s ways batter. The cream is super good and not to sweet. It combines perfectly with the crispness of the puff pastry. The price was 3,50€.
