Mushroom Benny

I am so soooo sad to report that we had the worst food experience in Revelstoke. I think it must have been a substitute chef or something that day. When we walked in, the entire restaurant was filled with a thin layer of smoke and it smelled like burnt food. We sat down and all of the tables were sticky/dirty, but there was no one there. So no one was clearly wiping the tables down. Before we could even order, we were told that so many of the items were not in stock. They were out of vegan chicken, out of their main bread, out of certain vegetables, out of all of their beer. It was a bit ridiculous. And more was missing, I just forget. I got the #mushroom #Benedict. It was honestly so bad. So bad that I left food on my plate and did not take it with me. The #hashbrowns were so soggy with grease that you literally couldn't stab them without them falling apart. They tasted disgusting. I did not waste stomach space. The hollandaise sauce tasted like mustard and maple syrup. It was really gross. The English muffin was so burnt and hard that you literally couldn't cut it with a knife. It was so so bad. And $18.

If you're ever in Peterborough, Ontario, you have to hit up the amazing Revelstoke Cafe! Eggs Benedict is my favourite brunch and this tasted even better than the non-vegan version. It is English muffin halves layered with sauteed mushrooms, two soft tofu squares, and smoothered in a decadent hollandaise sauce. There were so many potatoes, I couldn't eat them all.
