Victoria’s vegan brunch game is nothing special. Virtuous Pie doesn’t regularly offer it and when they do it, it isn’t as good as Mila, their sister restaurant in YVR.
Fern Cafe is a really small space and while they offer breakfast items all day every day, it is a grab and go counter ultimately. All the other options are either lacking at traditional spots oft grab n go style, which makes dining out with friends HARD.
Last December, in stepped Meet to fill the gap. Initially the place was packed and now that seems to have waned quite a bit. There were definitely some regular service missing going on and I experienced some of it first hand: being brought the wrong dish, being brought double the items we had ordered, etc. luckily they always made it right.
The classic Benny so exactly what it sounds like. The good: the cashew hollandaise is a great dupe and tofu egg is perfect. The not so great: the Yves #facon isn’t my fave and kind of overpowers the flavour of the dish. Unfortunately with the loss of both Plantbase and VGB the local seitan game is hurting. The home fries are also nothing special, as is the side salad. All those I give a C+. Luckily the positive outweighs the negative for me and I will still order this regularly for a brunch scenario.
