Fishy Business

I really wanted to like this one. The chickpea mash was barely noticeable and got completely lost in the mix. What stood out instead was a whole lot of lettuce, which overwhelmed everything else. It felt more like a salad in a bagel than a proper sandwich. Could’ve been much better with a more generous and flavourful chickpea filling.

Got mine with jalapeño bagel because I love my spice 🌶️ Just the right portions, would be perfect if there was more chickpea mash slathered in it 😬

New option of jalapeño bagel available, apart from the standard sesame bagel. Strangely oval in shape hahaha but I liked the spicy kick to the bread! 🫑🥯 Stuffed with refreshingly crunchy and juicy vegetables - tomato, cucumber, and lettuce. 🍅🥒🥬 Once again, I was impressed by the chickpea mash, which somehow tasted remarkably reminiscent of #tuna mayonnaise! 🌊Those familiar with my post will notice... Yes, my fear of seafood. So even if it's vegan, I tend to steer away. But this is a pleasant surprise. The chickpeas with mayo, and I believe seaweed had a great creamy umami taste, with a touch of the sea. Not too overpowering to scare me off. ❤️Again, I added tempeh. Chewy #bagel 🥯 stacked with lots of refreshingly crunchy and juicy vegetables - tomato, cucumber, lettuce - drizzled in cashew mayonnaise. 🍅🥒🥬 The real highlight was the chickpea mash, which somehow tasted remarkably reminiscent of #tuna mayonnaise!! Even my non-veg friend was mindblown! 🤯 Texture-wise, it leaned towards being a gritty / grainy dressing rather than flaky like real fish. Nonetheless, I was impressed by the plant magic ahaha. 🪄 While there are vegan canned tuna analogues available in the market, I love how Ash uses natural whole foods instead. Chickpea tuna is also not really something I've seen at other vegan eateries in Singapore despite often seeing recipe creators overseas talk about it.
