My first time having tofu as a sweet dish has been in Japan. I liked the soft slightly chewy texture with the nutty soy flour and sweet syrup. I didn't feel it had a noticeable sesame taste at all. I would order this again. It was 400 yen which is just under $4CAD.
If you are traveling with a group of plant based individuals, I don't recommend going to Nishiki market as it's 95% seafood and the sights and smells can be overwhelming. I was travelling with my husband who eats meat.
After reading a few vegan blogs on Nishiki market, I want to note that apparently their soy milk ice cream and donuts do contain dairy.
