I attended the Burlington Veg Fest today (Saturday, August 16, 2025) and after browsing the vendor booths for a bit, I made my first stop at La Dolce Vita. This company has a store in Oakville, Ontario, selling a wonderful variety of plant-based ice creams / gelato. I got myself one scoop of the Cherry Cheesecake Gelato in a waffle cone. The total was $9.04, including tax. I thought this price was a bit steep, but oh well. I could’ve opted for a plastic cup instead of the waffle cone to save $2, but I wanted to avoid the plastic.
This cherry cheesecake gelato was absolutely delicious and tasted exactly like it should have! There’s no way one would be able to detect the lack of dairy in it. Of course, there were some dark cherries in the ice cream, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
According to one of the ladies at the booth, the cherry cheesecake flavour has not been available at the store for a while. But that flavour and the Dubai Chocolate flavour were made specifically for the veg fest.
Eating this ice cream was another reminder to make my way to the La Dolce Vita store in Oakville again. It’s been a few years since I’ve been there and I must return.
The veg fest was strategically located along a walkway bordering Lake Ontario hoping to pique the curiosity of passersby.
I will definitely return to the Burlington Veg Fest next year and to La Dolce Vita in Oakville.
