Catalina Crunch

I try to be a relatively thrifty shopper but I seem to fail the assignment when I find vegan snack sized items. I think this is partially due to the snap decision that needs to be made whilst loading one’s groceries efficiently, the ability to try or enjoy a product without a full size commitment, and frankly, the novelty of it all! We went from pretty much the only option being a snack size bag of nuts to a Justin’s PB cup 2 pack to a variety of fun goodies, especially at a store such as Sprouts. It’s hard for me to not participate…or to effectively observe the price.

These cookies were just okay. The flavor was a bit off/synthetic tasting. The cookie portion wasn’t crisp like other sandwich cookies. It wasn’t soft either; just didn’t have that crunch. They weren’t offensive but they weren’t particularly enjoyable either. I definitely appreciate the additional protein but I’d opt for a different snack.

$3 was too much for 4 small cookies but I suppose on the other hand, it may have been better than purchasing a full size for a better value and have the cookies sit there or be unenthusiastically eaten.

These cookies do contain RSPO palm oil.

$3 at Sprouts

helena12345 How can you thrift shop food? Or am I missing another definition1 likeReply
beckyyy Thank you for asking! Thrifty as an adjective means to be mindful or careful of spending. We use “thrifting” as a verb when describing shopping for previously owned items because the shops are called “thrift stores.” I think they are called “charity shops” in some places. I guess we call them thrift stores because they (usually) have good deals but the word “thrift” or “thrifty” is in general associated with being economical and not necessarily with secondary ownership. Hope this helps! 💗. It’s so interesting to think about how we use words in our native language in general as well as slang/idioms and and how they evolve 😊Reply
