Sayaka by ippodoyarilovezzucchini's Review (Aug 7, 2022)

i was really looking forward to trying ipoodo matcha. i had very high expectations because they’re a high quality brand. i chose this blend out of all because it is more affordable, recommended for your first fry of their teas, and the description sounded appealing.

i’ve heard at ippodo that you’re really getting what you’re paying for. they describe it as a, “lighthearted smooth tea in the rich category. sweet and umami with hints of bitterness”. i was looking for a more intense matcha with higher sweetness and balanced umami but this one isn’t very sweet. it’s a lot more bitter and doesn’t taste too “premium”. i find myself having to sweeten it a lot to my liking. i also find it’s a lot more coarse. it’s harder to sift because it makes harder clumps. i would’ve preferred to try one of their higher end blends but they’re super expensive. this 40g tin was $35.

overall it’s a good if you’re looking for a light and bitter matcha but i have tried cheaper brands like kyoto dew that taste much better.
