Review of Tamal De Chocolat at Cantina Caliente by hereforareason

What an incredibly unique dessert! This tamal de chocolate, or chocolate corn cake, was served wrapped in a corn husks alongside passion fruit sorbet, strawberries, and red currants. It was beautifully plated and each ingredient worked together nicely. The cold sorbet and warm tamale provided a fun contrast. I only wish I took a photo of the rich chocolate cake unwrapped! By the way, it is very filling 🫔🍫🍓

Only one complaint: I think I may have confused the server by ordering dessert at the same time as our main and sides (I knew I wanted it!), because it was brought out first for some reason, which means we ate most of it before dinner so the sorbet wouldn’t melt. Not sure why the meal wasn’t served/paced properly.
