Review of Arrabbiata Pasta at Barefoot by stevenneoh

The Barefoot is the Intercon's dress-down restaurant, which opens onto the beach and has no dress code. We ended up here because I went to the Michelin-starred restaurant upstairs (La Maison 1888) and was shocked that they wanted to charge me the same price for some white beans, asparagus, and mushroom risotto as they would an omnivore for langoustine, caviar, and wagyu 🙄

Not that this lot were much friendlier to vegans. Getting this off-menu item put together was an ordeal. From different staff members who weren't singing from the same hymn sheet to uncertainty over whether there was dairy in it, this wasn't a good showing. The staff were courteous and responsive and everything; they just genuinely didn't seem to know 🤷‍♂️

In the end the #arrabbiata #pasta was distinctly ordinary, with olives, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes alongside the #spaghetti which was cooked too far beyond al dente 😬 You have the choice of any of their pastas because it's off-menu; in fact I ordered fusilli but they screwed up. Don't know the price because it was off-menu and I charged to room to pay upon checkout 😳

stevenneoh I think this whole part of Vietnam doesn't, to be honest. Least vegan-friendly place I've been to in a long time 🙁2 likesReply
