3 days in France 🇫🇷 and I have to say it’s incredibly rare to see anything on a menu that’s actually vegan just the way it is. So I’ve always got to ask the server if they can veganize something for me. Overall I’ve been really happy with responses and people’s willingness to try! I feel like that’s a huge change from even 5 years ago.

On to this dish? It’s called buttered truffle noodles with ham… my server suggested it was the best thing to modify for me on the menu and the kitchen made it with olive oil and no ham instead. It was delicious!

The noodles had a super chewy texture, almost as if they’d been fried a little in the oil and then finished off with a truffle gratin and fresh summer truffle. It was expensive, like € 36 but it was a huge portion and the aroma from the truffles justified the price!

My friends also ordered the fried artichokes which came with stracciatella cheese sitting on top. I ate the ones that didn’t have any cheese on them and they were so good! Definitely also worth ordering without the cheese.

walkabout-veg True! I thought that France, compared to Spain or Italy, would have been much ahead with vegan options. Sadly it was not! But fun thing is most of European soy is grown in France...2 likesReply
abi88 Omg going to France in few weeks, I need to prepare myself with the food —or thinking I will be drinking tons of coffee and eating some bread free of butter (which I know they love) 😐 1 likeReply
greenp I’m from France and I’d say there can be plenty of vegan options if you’re heading to the biggest cities! Paris for instance has so many good vegan restaurants!!3 likesReply
abi88 Thanks for the tips, will be checking all carefully 🤓2 likesReply
greenp Haven’t reviewed much of the food I’ve tried in Paris since I’m currently in Singapore but feel free to text me if you’d like some recommendations (bakeries/cafés/restaurants) 😇3 likesReply
