‘Warm falafel waffles, beetroot & carrot hummus, kale, lentil salad, brown-black rice & creamy herbed tahini dressing’

I can see why this is the top-rated crowd favourite, as this was both creative and delicious! I loved how they played on the visual concept of waffles and ice cream with the falafels shaped and cooked in a waffle iron and the ‘ice cream’ being scoops of carrot and beetroot hummus. The kale hiding underneath was minimal (thank goodness) and the herbed tahini sauce was copious enough that there was absolutely no chance of any of the rice and lentils being dry here. Because the falafels were pressed in a waffle iron instead of fried in a whole lot of oil, they were delightfully light, non-greasy, and structurally strong enough to pick up and bite into (after slathering on the hummus of course). The beetroot hummus was your average beetroot hummus, but the carrot hummus was a first for me, and it was creamy, dreamy, and slightly sweet. Everything was perfect except for the price (expensive but that’s not it): there seems to be something funny going on with the price calculation for this compared to the ‘build a bowl’ option.

You can build your own Buddha bowl selecting the exact same ingredients for this dish to totally recreate it for a total of $18.50! If you select Falafel Waffle (2pcs) with Tahini dressing ($5.5) + brown/black rice ($2) + kale ($2) + lentil salad ($3) + carrot hummus ($3) + beetroot hummus ($3), that ends up being quite a bit cheaper than ordering it straight from the menu… 🧐
