I purchased this set when they first hit shelves a couple months ago; though I see they’re still listed online, I haven’t spotted them in-store recently. It seems like Trader Joe’s has started to introduce more #reusable goods, like silicone storage bags and baking mats. I was given a couple of Stasher bags by a friend, and though I love and use them regularly, I haven’t grown my collection, as they’re almost prohibitively expensive. At $9.99 for a set of three, these reusable bags are definitely a more #affordable alternative. (Also, sorry abillion, I wasn’t sure how to categorize food storage bags, but I adamantly refuse to place them in “Family Planning.”)
In relation to Stasher, there’s both benefits and drawbacks. Obviously, price is a key consideration. The deep, stand-up style of these bags most closely matches the Stasher bowls; while it’s not a perfect comparison (the Trader Joe’s bags are smaller,) a 3-pack of Stasher bowls is currently $49.49 on Black Friday sale (25% off, normal price $65.99.) While they are meant to be a long-term investment, it is a lot of money; Trader Joe’s significantly lower prices make reusable bags more widely accessible.
Both brands use food-grade platinum silicone. Though I don’t have any bowl-style Stasher bags to compare it against, the material used by Trader Joe’s is noticeably thicker and somewhat less flexible than in the sandwich-sized Stashers I possess. Perhaps because of this rigidity, the seal will definitely pop open if overfilled. If I fill it 3/4 or less (hard to gauge sometimes when packing solid objects,) I generally haven’t had issues. Ease of cleaning is pretty much identical across brands.
I’m not the biggest fan of the dimensions of the bags in this set: the medium and large are too close in size for my liking, and I wish the large were narrower and taller, as the shape is unattractively squat. That being said, the quality is there, and these bags get the job done. I’ve been using them almost every day to keep food in the fridge and tote snacks to work. If you can use them consistently, I would definitely recommend these bags as a good way to limit plastic waste. #veganisnotscary #plasticisscary

Great review! 👏👏👏 And agreed, there ought to be more non-food categories on Abillion for sustainable and animal-friendly items.
