Skagenrøre is a type of #shrimp salad, this is a veganized version!
The sauce is a mix of vegan #mayonnaise and #yoghurt, both are #soy based. It has minced #fakemeat and roe made from #seaweed.
It is flavoured with lots of dill, red onions, lemon juice and black pepper.
I have never tried the original so I unfortunately cannot compare it.
Flavour-wise I really like it, it has a nice acidity to it and it is very tangy in a nice way. I wouldn’t say it has a very prominent fishy flavour at all. It is pretty mild and #fresh but has a nice depth to it!
The mayo/yoghurt mix is pretty fluid, since it has so much stuff added it luckily doesn’t feel too runny. The roe and #mince gives it a subtle chew and the onions offer some crunchiness.
I would have liked to see them use some fake shrimp instead of the mince to give it a bit more volume and texture when used as a #spread.
I do think this would be great on a dinner plate or as a #dip! So it feels like a more versatile product as it currently is.
Packaging is fine, nicely shows what it is trying to replicate and is clearly #vegan like all of Vegme’s products.
💵~40 NOK at Kiwi, a bit pricey considering that the size of the jar is on the smaller side.

I’ve never liked seafood (also shellfish allergy), but this looks like a great substitute for those who do. 👍👍
