It’s been ages since I’ve had falafel, and these falafel balls really bring me back to my youth. First I noticed the slightly crispy outer shell, contrasted with the soft insides. The chickpeas are flavorful and mashed. It’s spiced so well, again calling forth the childhood memories, this time, of falafel flavored snacks.
This bag also comes with a frozen tahini packet that you can just thaw in hot water. However, I had forgotten and ended up buying some hummus on sale.
Prep here is very easy, as you just need 15 minutes and a lightly oiled frypan, or you could bake them on a lightly oiled sheet, but that would take much longer.
Being that this Canadian company has been creating their vegan line since 1980, I’m excited to see the other products they offer. Seems like a happy all around choice!
Nutritionally, there are 260 calories in a serving, consisting of 4 falafel balls and 1/3 of the sauce, which is what was able to easily fit into my pita sandwich (you can also check out my review on that), although I did use hummus in place of the tahini sauce. It has 15g of fat, 24g of carbohydrates and 9g of protein.
Purchased from ShopRite for $5.49.
