Being the only vegan in a predominantly non-vegan household, it was quite challenging to get my family to try out some alternatives, but I persisted anyway.
Since ghee (clarified butter) is used rather generously at home, I decided to try out this plant-based ghee by a Bangalore-based startup called Live Yum.
Surprisingly, it has a very similar consistency and taste to its dairy counterpart. So, as an experiment, I took my mom's help and prepared halwa using the plant-based ghee. (Pic 2)
Thankfully, it turned out quite well and it was well received with all my family members!
In conclusion, this is a great alternative to regular ghee and you won't be missing out the taste of your favourite dishes. It commands a premium over the regular, but it is a price worth paying considering there's no cruelty involved. (Pic 3)

Oooo!! I used to like red color halwa! Never got to try a vegan halwa. It does look delicious 🤤
This is so cool! I didnt know they made plant based ghee!

If it's worth the price, I think I'd buy it for my parents, it's the only thing stopping them from going fully vegan now, other than packaged snacks. Cool halwa! And great that they liked it too! Think you might be well on your way to becoming a chef by the time you get them convinced xD But that's a win-win.
