Yes this be a classic blink-and-still-can't-miss-it dish at your typical Chinese vegetarian stall-next-door. But who cares whether it's predictable when it's THIS good? To repeat: it's GOOD and best paired with its other predictable partner-in-crime: bee hoon (rice vermicelli).👯‍♀️

Blown away by the flavours in this unassuming-looking cold dish of kelp, thinly sliced cabbage and cut birdseye chilli marinated with a vinegarish dressing. Just so unexpectedly wonderful.

Added pan-fried tempeh as an afterthought upon making payment since I didn't see this at first with so many dishes crammed into the space of one tiny coffeeshop stall. 😅 Rather enjoyed this, though found it a tad dry.

There's something so delightful about classic vegetarian bee hoon with curry, especially when both are super well-made. Finally tried this killer combo (though stereotypical veg fare 🙃) at my new go-to find in Jurong East.

This pink Teochew kueh is THE classic png kueh filled with salted glutinous rice and diced mushrooms. That said I much prefer the yam version of this kueh, which you can also find at this 21 Cafe coffeeshop stall near Jurong Library. What can I say - it's yam over rice for me. 🍠>🌾.

What, more turnip? Rather enjoyed this steamed puff-shaped kueh with savoury turnip filling wrapped in sticky rice layer.

Teochew png kuehs were sold out so switched dialect foods with this 'zong zi' (steamed savoury pyramid-shaped rice dumpling). Came with the typical filling of mushrooms, mock meat and chestnuts. It was okay and just so-so. Still, this veg stall in Jurong East Central is helmed by one of the loveliest, nicest stallholders on this sunny island of SG.

Teochew kueh sans dried shrimps, this pretty purple png kueh was thoroughly delicious with a savoury filling of yam, mushrooms and crushed peanuts. This veg stall can be found within 21 Cafe coffeeshop in Jurong East Central, near Jurong Library. Lovely service from smiley, serene staff.

Ordered the braised firm tofu + long beans — the savoury-sweet braised sauce was super flavourful and had a strong taste of star anise as usual :’) Long beans are on the oiler side. Super affordable at $2.50!

Rare item today — savoury-sweet fried tempeh! The tempeh was an actual whole chunk (like one entire brown paper banana leaf pack) so that was v generous :O $3.50 for this whole plate! #tempeh
