#hummus #hummuslover #goodandgather #chickpeas #productofcanada #olivetapinade Within a two minute walk of my hotel in Las Vegas, I went to Target to do a little grocery shopping. I couldn’t believe how expensive groceries are here, but then again, I was shopping on the Strip. The grocery prices would still be less than the cost of dining in a restaurant. This hummus was $3.49 US which was much less then a competing brand. I was quite happy with this price. I’m not familiar with this brand, but it offered another review opportunity. I was really intrigued by its flavour. I’ve had Olive Tapenade Hummus at home (Toronto), and this brand’s version is very similar (not surprisingly). This hummus is a great source of iron and fibre; just 2 tablespoons provides 6% of your day’s recommended amount of iron and 4% of your day’s recommended fibre. I was surprised to see that it’s a product of Canada which was another incentive to buy it. I would definitely get this again.
The olive flavor in this hummus is amazing and goes really well with bread or unflavored chips. This dip is thick but still very creamy.
This was one of my favorite hummuses in a while! The hummus itself is just good, and I thought the tapenade was a good addition.
Target has many vegan products. This humus does have 2g of protein/serving, only 0.5g of saturated fat and 150mg of sodium. But then there’s that generic statement “processed in a facility that also handles egg, milk, soy, tree nut & wheat ingredients.” So ingredient list is vegan, but who know about the contamination. I love olives; not enough tapenade for me in this hummus. I’ll be buying one with garlic next time.
