Green Jackfruit in Brine

I love that the jackfruit was tender. The brine adds a little acidity which can be washed off as needed. Will buy again

I am still learning how to use jackfruit in recipes, but this seemed like a pretty good value. Jackfruit is a popular substitute for pulled chicken or pulled pork but it's really low in calories so I like to mix it with chickpeas so it's more filling.

Standard can of jackfruit. It’s great that TJ has this option, as it may be difficult to find jackfruit in brine if you do not have an Asian grocer near. Recommend boiling to help remove briney flavor before preparing. I’m not sure why and if it was only at this location but I most recently found it on the shelf hanging above the frozen items rather than in the isle that has the other canned goods.

I decided I would give cooking with jackfruit a try. I think I read somewhere that you need to squeeze the water out of it, which I did. It made very nice tacos. Not sure if I would cook it again because of the squeezing and i haven't looked at the nutritional info but it is always fun eating tacos 🌮🌮🌮🌮 all four of them 😋
