6 Citrus Fruit Mince Pies

A delicious citrus fruit mince pie that goes well with a cup of coffee. Perfect for this time of year 👌🏼💚

I didn’t know what expect, but these were quite nice. Honestly, I don’t understand why these wouldn’t be vegan by default. They are quite sweet, but the filling is the right amount. It was quite nice to try this.

I saw @jeanne-marie review these the other day and I was reminded of how much I enjoyed them around Christmas time last year! 🎄 I was very excited to find them this morning. A sweet and citrusy filling covered in a generous amount of pastry. Even the little leaf design on top of the pie is adorable! 🍂 I’ve always enjoyed mince pies so I love that Woolies has this delicious vegan version. A little pricey at R69.99 for six but it is an occasional treat. I like that there isn’t unnecessary foil packaging for each pie. I missed out on these last year, so I practically ran to Woolies when I heard they were back! 🎄 “Delicious shortcrust pastry, filled with our exclusive spiced fruit mincemeat, packed with locally sourced Thompson raisins, Golden sultanas, cranberries, and fresh orange zest” 🥧 First thought: CRAZY SWEET! Like sugar-overload sweet. My lack of this kind of #sweettooth could not. But that seems to be the general trend with raisin and sultana products, they’re too sweet for me. I also think that in general, I’m not the biggest fan of Christmas-flavour inspired products, so I don’t want to hate on these purely because they’re not my preference. I’ve also never had a mince pie before, so I can’t compare it to any previous experience. I will say, I quite enjoyed the pastry though. Although the package says “best eaten warm”, I actually preferred it straight out of the packet!
